850 head gasket problem + 850 1995

I blew the head gasket in my 95 Volvo 850 wanted to replace the engine but had no luck finding one at a reasonable price so I end up redoing my own heads and gasket. After all was complete I ended up with 2 problems. 1) engine has no compression, lopping and backfiring . 2) shift light blinking and transmission wont move.if anyone have done this job before and have any input it would be greatly appreciated

Ditto. Recheck the timing marks on the Tbelt. Check and clear the codes in the A box.

    Explain 1) a little better.

    You say lopping and backfiring.

Lopping, to me, means that it is running, but very poorly, likely for short periods.

If that is correct, then it has to have some compression--you said "no" compression. Likely it has poor compression.

Have you checked your valve timing? The first thinkg I would check.

What I mean is car runs like it's starving for air I check timing cause that was my first assumption also but timing is correct. Car starts on a dime but when running and throttle is press it takes awhile to rev up. cleared codes in A box but no change

Check the air line from the cleaner to the throttle body, it might be loose. Also check the connection for the MAF/AMM. Is the idle air control hose secure? No leaks around the vacuum tree? Any vacuum leak will cause the same symptoms.
