child seat V70-XC70 1998

Does Volvo sell a child seat suitable for newborns that fits the '98 V70? I know they have some newfangled seat that requires special anchors that the '98s don't have. Can the anchors be added? Is there another seat that's just as good?

    I have a '98 S70 and use a child seat for infants to 20 lbs. It's the Evenflo Discovery Adjust Right child seat. It has a base module that you can just leave in the middle of the back seat so you don't have to fiddle around with the seatbelt each time you put the baby in the car. So all you have to do is just latch the seat onto the base module when taking the baby for a ride.

    The manual that comes with the seat gives instructions on how to secure the base module with an over the shoulder and lap belt. I think this kind of seat is the most convenient. We haven't used any of the additional Volvo teather childseat stuff with this kind of child seat.

    You can order additional base modules too for any other cars you may have.

        Yes, it can be positioned rearwards or forwards. Of course, with an infant you'd want it positioned rearwards, but it is ultimately left up to you to position the seat (base module) correctly.

        To do this, you may want to have the seat in the base module to position it correctly before installing it just to make sure the base module is positioned correctly for the seat to be facing rearwards. Then, you can remove the seat and secure the base module with the seatbelt.

    Marc,

    I hav been lookign for a child safety seat that works well with my car and have had little luch.

    Volvo does have a teather kit(part# 80ID0928 for V70), but this is for foward facing seat.

    The new seats (Isobax or somthing like that, I am sure Darrel or someone will correct me) do not work in the pre MY2000 S/V 70.

    Wish I could be more help but I an still looking for a good fitting seat before my son outgrows his infant seat.
