Flame trap dripping oil 850

1995 850NA, 200K miles . There is a tremendous amount of oil leaking from the flame trap connection. The basket filter inside is clear, and I put a new O-ring. Even if there was a good seal, why is so much oil being passed through this tube into the intake? The whole area below the flame trap is saturated with oil, and there are nice spots of oil on my driveway!

You do have a few miles on this engine, a lot could be wrong. First, throw away the plastic screen in the flame trap. Next, check the small vacuum line for blockage, it should suck up all of the oil and pass it to the manifold.

You valve guides could be worn, allowing for increased crank pressure and oil vapors. Not too much can be done for that except a major expense for something that does no harm.
