Is there something wrong with C70s? C70

Ever since the C70 came out, I have noticed a disproportionately high number of the for sale, compared to S70s & V70s.

Is there something wrong with those cars that doesn't effect the sedans and wagons?

I definitely think the C70 is a unique and rare sportscar...I love the fact that not too many other people have one...here in L.A. it's all about the CLK and BMW..it's great to stand out of the crowd...I do agree with Mike....I hate the turbo lag...that is the only negative I have.

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the C70. The ones I've seen seem to be screwed together a little better than the sedans and wagons. The "problem" (if there is one) which would account for turnover is summed up nicely by the Tappet Brothers in their review. Click on the link below.

FWIW, I presented the idea of a red Volvo Coupe (actually a 780 Bertone) to my teenage daughter. She actually said she'd prefer a wagon.

Its hard to believe that critics describe the C70 as an ugly car. Actually I'm shocked, and really quite puzzled how anyone could say that. Maybe I'm bias by the fact that I own one. But simply put, its one of the nicest looking cars I've ever seen. Its well appointed, and well priced. The only draw back that I can see is that its a front wheel drive. Other than that, its well balanced, handles curves well, and a blast to drive.

I've had a lot of positive responses and looks about my car (a C70 of course). I think the reason is that the C70 is not a high selling car such as the S70 and more people tend to by a name, aka MB CLK. This is my opinion of course as I was looking into a CLK as well before I decided on the C70. I think the C70 is the best bang for your buck in terms of a nice sports coupe. On drawback I might add to yours is the huge turbo lag since mine is an automatic. Other than that, I LOVE my car.

Guys,

Let them bang the car! I like being the only one

in the neighborhood with a c70. They just do not

know the ride.

In NY and NJ there are more CLK's and M3's

than Micky D's hamburgers.

I agree, our C70's will look exceptional for many years to come. Here in Daytona Beach Florida, there is only 4, rare cars seems to stand out more and it's great to finally have a car that you do not see many of, and the saying "THat's a Volvo". I know have a S60T, the best of both worlds, sport coupe, for dad and sport sedan for mom. We are a rare happy few.

Tom,

With S60 and C70 to really compare over time, how would you compare them? I looked under hood of S60 and liked the idea of top motor mount hanging of stock tower brace, and weight distribution is supposed to be better. I drove an S60 for only short ways. I did not get on any good roads to get good feel though ;-) I have 2000 HPT auto coupe. Sometimes I wonder about the S60, but for all the reasons you mentioned jeez I love driving my coupe.

I saw a pic on volvospy of C70 with SuperSprint exhaust, what an piece of art that awesome rear resonator and pipe are!

Heard S60 is faster, I read on a turbo artical new Volvo motors I think in S60 it will use a lighter internal motor components, some such.

How did the FEEL of acceleration differ? Different torque curve feel, turbo lag comparision, sensation of faster/slower...

Handling?

Other? Are both stick/auto?

Say your coupe became (okay, won't jinx with a real verb!)

would you go back and buy a coupe or S60?
