Thermostat Replacement Interval V70-XC70 2005

Hi all,

I own a 2005 V70 "non Turbo" with 60k on the clock and want to change out my coolant and possibly the thermostat.

-What is the life span of the original Thermostat kit ?

-Can I just get the themostat without spending $100+ bucks on the whole kit.

Any help is appreciated.

That's a negative. The new and 'improved' thermostats come imbedded in the housing along with the engine coolant temp sensor. All or nothing.

There is no 'time to replace' with thermostats, when they fail they get replaced. Just beware of cheap or old coolants which can decrease the lifespan.

Ok so if I am going to flush my coolant at 60k (dont think this has ever been done" do you think a thermostat replacement is a good idea since I wont be replacing the coolant for another 2 years. Or just flush the coolant and leave the thermostat "as is" and wait for it to die. I also read these thermostats are a pita to change.

My 93 940T with 310k on the clock was nice and easy and still is.

Thanks Klaus !

Conclur with Klaus. I have a 2004, and had the orginal thermostat changed when the timing belt was replaced about 110k miles. Old Thermostat appear to be working properly at that
time.

Thermostat is designed to break in the open position, which is a good thing. I would wait for it to expire.

Yep, the newer the cars, the more expensive the parts get AND the harder they are to replace.

My 1967 is so much easier to work on than your 740.
