Stuck in park XC90 2012

My 2012 XC90 would not come out of park today. Is this normal? I have never had it happen in any car. I thought I was going to have to call Volvo on call. I put the parking brake on, turned the car on and off several times, had my foot on the brake every time. I read the owners manual about shift lock. I was getting ready to call the dealer, tried it one more time and it came out of park. Any ideas?

    If you are on a hill w/o the parking brake applied, that could generate a lot of pressure on the parking pawl, but it would be the same as your 2002.

    The next time it happens, call Volvo. It gives them something to do...
