2001 S40 fuel-line quick-connect S40-V40

I am preparing to install a new fuel-pressure regulator. Where the fuel-supply line attaches to the FPR, there is some sort of quick-connect (blue in color). I don't want to damage the fuel line. A) is there a trick to detaching the line from the old FPR? B) is there a trick in attaching the line to the new FPR?
C) is some sort of special tool involved? THANKS IN ADVANCE for any suggestions! George

I believe you are referring to a tool that Lisle makes. I have one of their tools I purchased at NAPA or some auto store that has about 6 different sizes. I needed it to disconnect AC lines and note there are fuel connections that also use the same too. Find the right size, mount it on the line, push it toward and into the connection, pull on line and it should come apart. The Lisle tool has a diagram of that action. Make sure the pressure is out of the fuel system first.

just replaced a regulator on the 2000 MY and all I used was a needle nose plier to press the two tabs together to allow the fuel line to slip out. dont forget to relieve the fuel line pressure before you pull the fuel line out of the old regulator.

Easy job to perform. when you place the fuel line back into the new regulator a small blue ring will purposely snap off. when it does snap off you know that the fuel line is properly seated.

Good luck to you. your starting and MPG will be greatly improved. Mine was.

I don't have any of those, but normal quick disconnects require it to pull towards the tank while pulling the FPR forward. The disconnect has a shutoff so fuel won't drain from the tank.
