2004 xc70 remote not working V70-XC70

I have a 2004 xc70 that was in storage since last october and I removed the battery, I got the car out the other day and hooked up the battery the car started right away, but I notice that the remote did not unlock the car I had to use the key. I tried the other key with the same result and I checked the remote batteries and they are fine ,any ideas or do I have to go to the dealer to get it fixed thanks

The alarm system that the remote uses has its own battery which gets charged from the car battery. I suggest driving the car for a while and check the remote again in a week or so.

The security module is located between the inner and outter fender behind the right headlight. The dealer will probably suggest replacing the entire module for a small fee :>)

I see, they contain their own battery and the cars system helps to keep it charged. the other thing I remembered was that I swapped out the entire rear view mirror because the sunroof switch was not working ,does that have anything to do with the remote at all thanks again

Not in 2004. You should be good. Warning, the battery in the security module does have a habit of failing and leaking all over the diode board. If that happens, your security system will start doing weird things. Not to worry now.
