I just bought a 1994 850 NA with 147K miles for 2K dollars. Sweet deal, nice ride. this is my first 850. I've owned 2 240's and 4 740's in the past, but good ones are getting too hard to find.

I'd like to upgrade the antisways from stock on my 850, so i can corner a little flatter.

I've been unable to find specs on the relative sizes of the stock bars, or information on fitment.

Can anyone direct me to such a resource? can anyone tell me if the 850 turbo bars will fit on a normally aspirated 850 car?

Replacing the front sway bar is a real pain because of lowering the subframe.

I would go with a tower brace first.

That said, I didn't know the turbo had a larger diameter front bar than the non turbo.

If you want to get better handling and can give up a slight amount of comfort, the sport springs will lower the car about 1 inch and reduce all sway and dips.

A good set of shocks/struts make all the difference in the world.

I installed IPD swaybars last summer and the front went in easily.
The rear sway was trouble because of poor directions. I talked to IPD about
it and maybe they will improve their directions. Overall it wasn't too hard.

Did you get service records with the car? I'd verify the timing belt
mileage, the 850 has an interference engine and you don't want to chance
losing a timing belt.

TB was done 20K ago. Main concern with the car is a bum bearing on the passenger side shock tower. I shimmed it with some rubber to keep it from klunking but of course that's just a temporary kludge.

The strut support bushings wear quickly, where the top of the strut shaft
hogs out the rubber bushing causing front end slop.
I went with heavy duty units from IPD supposedly better than OEM.
They look beefier, and I'm crossing my fingers. I know the after market scan-tech spring seats are junk.

Another item to check is the sway bar end links. (Ball joints)
IPD for sure and maybe FCP (Meyle?) offer heavy duty versions.

Are you sure it is a bearing? It wouldn't be a bad spring seat, would it? When the spring seats go they can cause squeaking, clunking etc. because the spring is moving around. The passenger side typically goes first.

The ideal time to replace the spring seats is when you do the struts. Just replaced the spring seats and struts on my 95 855. No more noise....:)

Replace the struts, spring seats, mounting nuts and maybe the bump stops and you should be all set for another 150k+ miles. BTW - XC90 spring seats will fit and are more heavy duty than 850's OEM spring seats.
