Climate control console lighting V70-XC70 2001

01 V70 2.4T

Lights illuminating the temperature controls in the climate control console are burnt out. Mechanic tells us those are LED lights and therefore the entire temp console must be replaced.

Are there replaceable bulbs in there or do I have to buy an entire new console unit?

And how do I remove the console?

Thanks.

LEDs are soldered into place, usually on the circuit board. As you can tell, I haven't opened one in the new platforms.

There is a little video that shows someone messing with the radio, but at least it shows how to remove the center panel. I don't know if disconnecting the battery is a must. Just disconnect the ground will work just as well as doing both wires.
