Random misfire codes after hot car sits 30-45 minutes S70 1998

Car has been perfect until recently. When cold, starts and runs flawlessly. After sitting it misses and barely idles but smooths out. Wondering if the temp sensor by the thermostat does this or?

Suggestions appreciated. Seems when one car is on the fritz there is another following.

my 2000 v70xc has a similar problem, checked my ect it seems to be fine, going to replace some questionable vacuum line in the engine compartment and see if that helps at all, does your car idle smooth out, or does it smooth out upon acceleration?

Checked resistance and it is a little high. Ordered a new one, but right now it is smooth at idle and no more codes thrown. Did clean connections and noticed the plug is aging so crimped the female portion a bit for a better contact. At this point, the car runs perfectly. Will report any further problems.

It very well could be the ECT sensor. First, unplug the sensor and clean the contacts. Watch the almost useless temp gauge on the dash and see if it points to the middle before restart.

With the coolant still hot, the resistance at the ECT sensor should be 150 Ohms or less. If you get a reading of 300 or more, replace the ECT sensor.

Will break out the meter later. In the middle of installing a new AC compressor on wife's '98. Happy I have done one before. The '98 with codes is son's car which I am borrowing.
