S70AWD rear bumper "plug" S70 1999

Hey, has anybody ever wondered if a matching trim piece is available to replace that "plug" in the S70AWD bumper (where a left tailpipe would be)? I'm thinking of doing a custom dual exhaust, but I would need that piece to do it right. Can one of you Volvo Tech types out there look in the parts book and see if there is a part that would fit? Maybe from a S70R or V70R with factory dual exhausts? It's hard to believe Volvo would make that trim for the right side only.

There is a dual tailpipe ekaust available as an option from volvo. It is a muffler with two tailpipes, one of which exits where the trim plug is. Don't have part numbers, but I'll try to check it out monday.

Thanks,Bob. I'd be interested in knowing the part numbers for the complete kit, and also the trim piece that replaces the "plug", if it's included in the kit.

I had the plug machined out, then installed a custom cat-back exhaust afterward. The machining is not visually perceptible.

Mike, I didn't think of that option. How did you do the machining? Dremel tool, or real Bridgeport?

Sorry for the late response. Too much work, not enough time. I just used an exacto knife and slowly cut out the plug, then used the factory touchup paint to do the finish work. came out so clean that I suprised even the dealership. Note: remove it before doing the cutting. It is easy to get off and replace.

Re: S70AWD rear bumper "plug" S70 1999

Mike, thanks for the info. It sounds like a job I could do. I think I'll see if I can order a new 'plug' and work on that one before I take mine out, just so I can go back to the original if I mess it up. My body shop says they'll spray it for me next time they work on a car of my color. Wish me luck!
