Just Purchased a 2000 V70 XC with 18000 miles on it. Great car but the seller had only one key and no remote opener-seems it was leased and then sold at auction- the dealer here wants $400 for another key and the "fob" remote opener, sounds a little nuts to me, and allows me to wonder if I'm going to need a Brinks Truck every time I visit the Dealer.. Does this sound correct?

That car came from the factory with 3 keys and two remotes, it's standard equipment. The people you bought the car from owe you. It's not your fault when they bought the car, they bought it missing equipment. If the spair tire wasn't there they would put one in it.

the price that they told you is right the key is right at 100.00 and the remote is also at 100.00. Then they have to program the key and remote to the car the software is aboult 20.00 each and then you have to pay the tech. to program it. Tell the tech. that you want to take the other keys and remotes out of the cars memory this is done when programming. and tell the tech. you want the key and remote in the first three spots so when you use it so the seats will move to how every it is set for see the owners book. good luck

Remote seat memory is not available on 2000 XC.

I've seen a number of Volvo remotes sold on eBay as low as $10. I had to buy one for a long term rental that somehow never made it to the rental agency lot with any remotes. Good luck

Thanks Steve, I did check out E-bay and picked up a couple for a savings of about $150. My XC was a LT lease as well, maybe that's where E-bay is getting the remotes?

That is kind of high for only one remote and one key. Are you sure that $400 will not cover a full set, meaning a couple of keys and acouple of remotes? One key and one remote should be about $175 or so...
