My Volvo Deales is Dumb !! 850 1995

My local dealer in Houston where I bought my car 5 years ago is the oldest dealership in town.

Last week I purchased from their parts department the following:

2 new front disk rotors

set of front disk pads

set of rear disk pads

Silicon Grease

All for about $225 - good price.

Today I went back by the dealership to pick up an extra tube of silicon grease.

The grease rang up for $14.95 - to which I exclaimed, hold on, I only paid $9.63 a week ago.

The parts guy said - "I got all sort of grief for letting you have those parts at those low prices". He said we have mail order prices for out of state customers and higher prices for "over the counter" customers.

I told him- fine...next time I'll will order from an online retailer.

What a dumb way for these guys to run their business - they will not get any more of my business!!

I can't believe that such a "prominent" dealership would run "two sets of books" when it comes to parts pricing.

Nutts......

My Volvo dealer is COMPLETELY dumb! 850 1995

Well, the nearby Volvo dealer I use had a great reputation a while back, but it has gone down to crap now. Check this out for example...one of the little lock tabs broke off (the ones you press down to lock the car...in case you can't figure that out) and I found you can unscrew it off to replace one. I wondered if my Volvo dealer had any extras and they said in order to put it on, they'd have to take the whole door panel off. What a way to rip some off of $75! Hahaha, stupid people.

My Volvo dealer is even dumber 850 1995

I know your dealer! I use 'em for mail-order and they are a lot more cooperative and helpful than my own local dealer. And their prices are much better.

I've also heard that their service department is one of the best.

I know you must be annoyed. But if they offered "trade" discounts to retail customers, they'd have started a local price war and they'd be hung out to dry by both the other local dealers and Volvo NA. Is it fair? No. But if they changed something, they would obviously have to pull out of the mail-order discount Volvo parts business altogether.

Why not use another Volvo parts discounter out of town and have the parts shipped to you? I'd guess that the shipping cost just about cancels out the sales tax.

(I also used a discount Honda parts dealer in Oklahoma to ovoid the outrageous dealer prices on accessories for my wife's Odyssey!)
