cool running & lower air scoop 850 1995

My 855T has not had the plastic lower air scoop pan since I bought it 10 years ago. Temp gauge always hovered at mid point, winter or summer, highway or city. I found a new scoop at a U pull it and as soon as it was on the car, diverting air into the radiator, the temp gauge will only get to midway at a prolonged idle or long uphill climb. Otherwise it's about 1/4 of the way up.

Does that plastic scoop really do that much to aid cooling? Or did my T-stat pick that day to go south? I have a new thermostat I'll install this weekend, but it sure is a coincidence.

If you look into the center opening under your front bumper and see the driveway, yours is missing. This duct directs air into the lower portion of the radiator. They're easily broken by hitting curbs, sharply angle driveway aprons or road debris.

Is there a different skid plate for the 850NA?
I need one too, but somehow they disappear from the local boneyards along with the radiators.

yep, nothing but driveway. here in Virginia, an entrance is really an excuse for civil engineers to demonstrate their knowledge of acute angles :o)

I'm gonna hit the pick and pay to look for one. thanks.

It's just a black plastic shelf that starts under the radiator goes to the engine, and from wheel well to wheel well. Two 10mm screws hold it in place, on the 850 there are 3 clips to connect it to the front bumper cover.

Yes, it does help the cooling system that much. But, your Tstat was probably broken for quite a while.
