IPD cabin pollen filter S70

Hi Everyone,
I normally buy the oem pollen filter. I was looking at ipd and noticed they have an aftermarket pollen filter. It costs about $10 less then the oem filter and wondered if anyone has tried it and could give feedback?

I happen to like the charcoal impregnated one, just personal preference:

Of course, get a Mann engine air filter while you are at it just to cut shipping cost. A bunch of aluminum crush washers for oil changes???

Hi Klaus,
Ok, good. I will get one...and some engine oil filters and crush washers too!
Does the filter seem to do a good job for you?

I kind of like the oem one because its white and i can determine how dirty it is. But like you i like the charcoal embedded in the filter.

White or charcoal, replace them once a year. If you park indoors, you can stretch that to 2 years buy taking the filter out and banging it upside down to get the dust out. Never go more than 2 years.

I replace the paper engine filter annually. The crush washers are good for the oil and tranny plug.

I make it a point to change my cabin filter (OEM, aftermarket, charcoal) very shortly after the worst of the pollen season. In central MA that falls typically in May; however with this past years weather who knows. I would rather let the nasty pollen get caught in filter and then junk it rather than putting a new one in and having it get such a huge burst right off the bat. This logic seems to have worked best for me so far. In all reality it likely does not matter but for me I look at it like the first real car wash I do after the snow and salt. No point in doing it until you are fairly confident the salt is gone and the sand has been swept off the streets. If I remember correctly the book specs a ridiculously high interval change. For optimum performance of the AC and to minimize any risk of mold and crap buildup I just change yearly.

Take your time doing in on your S70. If I remember correctly I broke some small area of the cowl on my old S70. Wasn't a big deal but remember it was the result of my rushing.

my 2 cents...the charcoal ones are really nice. For peace and sanity I spend the extra cash. The cheap aftermarket ones that I have dealt with for other cars are just that...cheap

Engine filter? Get good quality...mann, mahle, etc Klaus is right on the washers...I'd get a few oil filters too just to make it worth it?
