I make it a point to change my cabin filter (OEM, aftermarket, charcoal) very shortly after the worst of the pollen season. In central MA that falls typically in May; however with this past years weather who knows. I would rather let the nasty pollen get caught in filter and then junk it rather than putting a new one in and having it get such a huge burst right off the bat. This logic seems to have worked best for me so far. In all reality it likely does not matter but for me I look at it like the first real car wash I do after the snow and salt. No point in doing it until you are fairly confident the salt is gone and the sand has been swept off the streets. If I remember correctly the book specs a ridiculously high interval change. For optimum performance of the AC and to minimize any risk of mold and crap buildup I just change yearly.
Take your time doing in on your S70. If I remember correctly I broke some small area of the cowl on my old S70. Wasn't a big deal but remember it was the result of my rushing.
my 2 cents...the charcoal ones are really nice. For peace and sanity I spend the extra cash. The cheap aftermarket ones that I have dealt with for other cars are just that...cheap
Engine filter? Get good quality...mann, mahle, etc Klaus is right on the washers...I'd get a few oil filters too just to make it worth it?
