Front ABS sensor a do-it-yourself job? XC90 2004

My ABS service light comes on (the messages indicate a need for brake/ABS service and anti-skid system service), and the indy mechanic I rely on used a new computer to diagnose a front (driver's side) abs sensor fault. Is this a fairly simple DIY job? I have done brake work that involved replacing pads and rotors on my '98 v70 (front and rear) but I haven't touched anything to do with the ABS system. Is it simply a matter of bolting on and plugging in?

Thanks

Thanks, as always. I think I'll spend the hour's labor and make sure it's done right!

If you can find the plug, go ahead and replace it. Before you do, you mentioned that you replaced the rotors. Could you have banged the sensor enough that it is no longer pointing straight down? Or did the message just come up?

The sensor is behind the rotor, and without a lift it might be easiest to remove the rotor to get to the sensor. It shouldn't cost much to have your mechanic do it either.
