Hi Pieter
1. OK, Here goes. Just a few to start off with! If you hear a buzzing sound from your centre console, round about 4000 RPM, get a doctors syringe, and buy a can of Motorbike chain lube. Spray some into a container, and then pour it into the syringe. On the engine side, find the two gear selection cables and insert the needle into the rubber boot. Spray about 100/150 c.c. of the fluid into the cable. It will penetrate into the cable over a day or two, and the buzzing sound will go away. Please note that you have to inject the fluid over an hour or two to give it time to run down the cable casing. It works like a charm.
2. If your sunroof makes a noise, put a thin coat of door lube along the roof edge where the two meet.
3. For buzzing sounds in both front doors, the little clips that clips the panels onto the doors, normally buz. Remove them, and before replacing, use presstick to secure.
4. If you go round a corner and you hear a bang in the rear suspension, Replace the roll bar bushes, or insert a gasket between the U-bracet and the frame it clips into.
5. If you get a buzzing sound from your centre console, remove the indicator housing and you will find there is a plate with one clip in the bottom plastic cover. Remove and insert a few foam or rubber strips between the plate and cover.
6. If your front windows creak, go to your dealer and let them retighten the whole glass section..
7.If you go over a bump and it sounds as if you have a loose spanner in the boot, adjust the boot rubbers a few turns out.
8. Hey, if you keep loosing centre badges (wheels), epoxy them in. It does not only happen to Volvo's you know. I am still convinced they don't fall out, but get taken out by people that collect them!
9. If you have a click in your steering, it is the 2/10ths of a millimeter play in the spliance of the bottom section of the steering colmn. Take a bit of super glue or lock tight and pour it in between the top section of the steering colmn and the bottom one. I see Volvo does the same with the PHASE II model.
etc. etc.
Hey, like I said. I must be MAD! But like I said, I'll buy one again... There are alot of fun things about the car once you sort the small things out.
Regards
Michel
PS! For anybody wanting to passing snotty remarks for the way I fix my car, Please note that these remedies all work! At least I try! AND I don't run to my dealer for everything.I have an engineering background, and know that the simple things sometimes work!
