Antenna Scrunching Noise S70 2000

My S70 SE has starting experiencing a "scrunching" sound with the antenna after the antenna has fully retracted. Has anybody else had this occur ? Also - an opinion on whether this is worth a trip to the dealer would be great. I could easily live with it for 6500 miles (next service) but not if it is indicative of or leading to a larger problem.

Thanks,

Dave

This also can be caused from the cold weather driving. Ice forms on the antenna and creates the same noise. If its doing it in good weather then possibly get ahold of the Volvo lubricant they give you on your service. I dont recommend the Wd-40, dirt ect. tends to stick to it easier. Hope this helps>>>

WD-40 is the trick all right. If I don't lube it once a month or so then the antenna sticks about before full extension. While under warranty my dealer replaced the whole antenna/motor twice when I complained about the "scrunching" noise... it probably wasn't neccesary, though.

Extend the antenna and wipe it off well, then apply a light coating of W-D 40 or equivalent. The mast really needs to be cleaned once a month to prevent this problem

My owners manual says to put a light coating of WD40 on the antenna periodically....
