seat heater 850 1995

Anyone have any suggestions on fixing finicky seat heaters? Driver's seat (fortunately!) works most of the time. Sometimes I need to move the seat into different positions to get it to work. Passenger's seat stopped working last spring and I can't get it to work at all. Switches seem to be okay, everything is connected to the best of my knowledge. I'm not very good with electrical stuff...:)

Thx for any help!

I have found that the connections frequently get unplugged or are loose. If you move your seat as far forward as it will go and then tilt it as far forward as possible you can then lay on the floor behind the seat and jam your hand up into the seat foam and dig out the thermostat.

To solve the loose connections last year I used a series of 4 small zip ties and the holes in the thermostat to zip tie the connection firmly to the thermostat. Then just push the thermostat all the way back into its original position. Heaters have worked perfectly this year. Good luck.

Probably a broken thermostat or bad wire to the thermostat. The thermostat is shoved into the bottom of the seat cushion with a couple of wires visible under the seat.

Fortunately, the seats are easy to remove - 4 bolts and a couple of wire connectors. With the seat upside down, it is easy to work on. There might even be a tutorial around somewhere...

My advice is 2 cents, so you got what you paid for...

Also you should check with your dealer regarding an 850 seat heater recall. You may qualify.
