rear shocks 850

HI All:

Just finished removing my parking parking brakes on my 94 850......the springs had rusted and broke and they were spinning around in the drum. Never used them anyway. In any case i pulled a shock and my 5 year old bilstien touring shocks have had it. I was never really happy with them as they were kind of rough. Any one have a suggestion for a soft shock? The OEM mono tube shocks are now Sachs dual piston shocks and are kind of rough like the bilstiens. I was thinking of monroe or KYB this time.

Thanks.

I used the KYBs on the rear of a '92 945T I used to own and they were great. A huge improvement in performance over worn out OEM and very reasonably priced.

I used to use Monroe shocks on '80s light trucks back in the day, but I have read a lot of negative things about them lately in a Volvo context.

Good luck!

Volvos were never known for a soft American ride. Shocks are made to prevent wheel rebound, they can make a ride feel slightly more/less bumpy, but it is the springs that deliver most of the hardness.

If you have 'sport' springs, optional except for the R cars, that will lower the ride by an inch and make things rough. New Bilstein TC's are typically less harsh than OEM shocks.

I've heard the KYB's are a good shock for the money, but that's all I know...

Does KYB make a rear shock for 850's?
