I've got a set of Propus wheels for my C70. I got a really good deal on them, but while getting them balanced today, I learned that one was noticeably out of round.

How effective is it to get a rim straightened? Who usually does that sort of work?

Try Erie Vo-vo. I just bought a very clean and straight Columba for what it would cost to fix mine, $145.00.

Else, google Wheels of America (IIRC)or alloy wheel fix and the name of a nearby large city.

I do buy from Erie. But I should point out that they want $1200 for a set of these wheels and around $350 each.

I actually ran with the wheels on the rear of the car today, and the general balance is much improved. I didn't really feel any vibes.

I might not worry about it unless there's a problem.

My Canisto wheels might be more an an issue. I've read that these are often out of round.

The rear suspension only goes up/down and very little of that vibration gets to the cabin. Ever wonder about cars that pass you at 70+ with a rear wheel bouncing off the ground?

I am sure your car is not that bad. But a second opinion might be worth it. You could even try jacking the wheel up and turning it by hand. Make a jig to touch the outside edge of the rim so you can see if the rim 'moves' during a rotation. Not only up and down, but in/out.

Try your yellow pages-- I had two rims from an '89 760GLE that were so out of round that I couldn't run them on the front of the car. I found a place locally that fixed them for $40 each, including unmounting, mounting and balancing the tires. They used a huge press with a bunch of different mandrels to do the job. They balanced up just fine-- I kept the wheels after the demise of the 760 and ran them on my 245 until I sold it.

There are wheel repair shops in most major cities. Cheaper than a new wheel, but you need to find out about their reputation, not just price.
