How to get Alarm to re-recognize a remote? 850 1994

I've seen the post a long while ago but not since and sure enough, I had the battery disconnected a while and only one of my two remotes now works. Does anyone have the procedure for re-recognizing the remote?

ThanX,

What about the battery in the remote? 850 1994

my remote for our Audi worked fine for 6-9 months then wouldn't...I replaced the batteries and it worked fine for a month and then died. I've come to believe it doesn't like my pocket with 10 other keys and the ring...probably pushes on the switches. Too many pushes outside the range of the car and the remote at least on the Audi becomes disconnected.

The audi resets itself to the car by pushing the unlock button (or lock, I forget which) and then unlocking the driver's door with the key within two minutes. Simple enough, and even intuitive. The posted volvo method sounds like it was invented by Rasputin the Mad Monk of Trollhattan.

Is does sound that way doesn't it. These are verbatim the printed directions I received from my dealer to program a new remote I purchased. I thought it was odd, but it works.

Have you swapped the batteries to make sure the battery itself isn't dead? Also, a word to the wise, I learned that placing your remotes on those demagnetizers (security things) at stores will scramble the codes up.

Anyhow, here's how to reset the remote:

    1. Get in the car and make sure all doors, hood, trunk are closed.

    2. Turn the ignition switch on and off 5 times within 10 seconds, leaving the ignition on after the 5th time.

    3. Push either button on the remote to set it. You'll need to do both of them as it will set a new code. Be sure that you do the second one within 15 seconds of the first.

    4. Turn the ignition off and try the remotes.
