have all the parts and tools to replace a noisy front hub bearing...but 36mm nut proving to be a real bear to remove....reverse threaded? have torched nut/PB blastered for several days now...snapped a 1/2 breaker bar trying to remove..

It is NOT reverse threaded. Make sure the lock is out of the way. An impact wrench works wonders, so I found a piece of 1" PVC to cover the handle of my socket, and pounded away with a hammer to get it started. Make sure there is no penetrating oil on the sides of the nut.

When I replaced my front axles, I used a 36mm axle nut, 1/2 breaker bar, and a long pipe over the breaker bar.

Be sure that your replacements are the same size. I foolishly bought replacement axles a couple years ago (not going with a reputable supplier), and I discovered that each had a different nut size (32mm and 34mm) on the axle end.

I'll know better next time.

Hi, some time ago I renewed front bearing of my 850/94 also having 36mm nut.
- first I had to drill out the locking bending on the nut
- I used 1/2" 36mm tool with at least 1m extension
- and assistant standing on brake pedal, gear selector on N
it was quite difficult to get the axel loose from bearing to get access to the bolts on the back side.
