Got a 'Primary Coil' code, so replaced all plugs , it was time, with Bosch. Funny thing, Volvo dealer could not give the gap......saya they never check them, just install platinunm)
Still got the code, replaced #1 coil pack and #5 as it had come up before, replaced with new coil packs. Still have a code on #1 !! Is there a primary coil somewhere that feeds these spark plug coils?????

Worth a call to the dealer? Unless there is a broken wire to the #1 coil, I have no suggestions.

The coils are fired by computer, driven by sensors on the cams/crank.

What Pnnnn code did you get?

You should be using copper plugs, gapped at .028

Klaus, I'm getting 2 codes: P1350-'Ignition coil 1 . primary'
and 'P1238E Turbo Control Valve' - this may be due as I did not tighten the tube crossing over the plugs when I pulled the codes. The coil pack on #1 was replaced with a new one, got the same code; I then switched #1 and #2 coil packs and still got the same code. . broken wire? Is there a way to check coil packs? I did put in new Bosch platinum plugs as was recommended by Volvo, but took out AutoLite's. What brand plug would you recommend? Thanks

Is the engine idling rough? The reason I ask is because the P1nnn and P2nnn codes are not always correct when applied to Volvo. I found this:

P1350 Fuel Level Sensor B Intermittent/Bypass Line Monitor

Your car has 2 fuel level sensors, one in each part of the saddle tank.

Neat Saloon, got one myself. Can the fuel sensors cause the rough idle? What would be the fix? pull the tanks?
