SRS fault codes 850 1995

I have a friend just purchsed an 850 T5 1995. The SRS light ius on with diagnostic codes 212 213 232 242. I know what the codes are for but I need to put out the light to see if it returns. Is this possible without going to the dealer.

Re: SRS fault codes 850 1995

212 steering wheel module (airbag), open circuit in wiring circuit

    213 " " " " , short " to ground

232 left seat belt tensioner, open circuit in wiring circuit

242 right belt tensioner, open circuit in wiring circuit

Clear the codes and see what, if any return. Was the car in an accident?

      Thanks John O,

Yes it has been in an accodent I believe.

How to clear the codes, that is the question.

Read all the codes again, then press and hold the button down for 8 seconds, release the button and when the LED lights, press the button for another 8 seconds. Then read the codes again and if you're lucky, you'll get a 1-1-1 indicating no faults. If you get one or more re-occuring faults, the problem is still there and you'll need to diagnose it further, depending on what it is. Whatever you do, never check an airbag with a VOM as small voltage will blow it.
