Here's the deal. My ready cash tends to be limited, and I'm needing to bring a newer Volvo into the family in the not-too-distant future.
I've found a 2001 v70 for an affordable price. The catch is that 1st gear is performing badly. I haven't driven it yet, but know that the seller tends to start it out in 2nd, and that it drives quite well on the interstate.
Does this sound like "complete-transmission-rebuild" territory, or might I be able to bring it back or delay failure until I can source a good transmission.
So far, 1998 is the newest Volvo I've worked on and feel comfortable with. I'm not sure just how different the P2 models are from the P80s
--edit--
Seems like the 2001 is known for issues... reading some stuff over at MVS.
Opinions and advice are still welcome
