    Proper synthetic oil weight? S70

using conventional oil I would use either 5W-40 or 10W-30.

using synthetic oil I personally use 5W-40 in the summer and 0W-30 or 0W-40 in the winter. I don't think I would have any problem in my region using the 0W-30 or 0W-40 all year round though.

Does synthetic oil have shelf life?
The reason I ask is that I bought two cases of Mobil 1 off of a co-worker about 10 years ago and they have been sitting in my garage ever since. Now is the time I can utilize it, I think.

haha sorry - I live in New Brunswick, which is in Atlantic Canada. So a bit north of you.

Really, it's pretty hard to go wrong with 10W-30, which is what the owner's manual recommends.

          jadmhm,
How long before you change the oil again? (4k, 5k miles)

I personally change my oil twice a year - once in the spring to get rid of the winter running crap in the oil and also to change to summer weight, and once in the fall to change to winter weight.
