Water coolant pipe leak repair? C70 2002

Hi,
I'm doing an engine swap to rescue a C70 I found at a local repair shop. The old engine is blown, melted. The kid just didn't put water in it... or watch his temp gauge.

The Junk yard motor is geougeous, but on the stainless water manifold that is the input to the center of the water pump, one of the off shooting pipes has a leak that has left deposits. Can you pull these apart? Can you repair them, or do you have to replace the whole inlet pipe/manifold?

Water coolant pipe leak repair? C70 2002

I just did a head replacement on 1998 c70 and had to remove all the pipes from the turbo.. I'm having a hard time precisely visualizing the part your describing... would this be the pipe that attaches to the back of the head and forks to the turbo and the expansion reservoir?

Do you have a photo of the area you're dealing with. I think I did not mess with mine at that point, but I did have to remove an oil pipe from down there.

Knowing volvo, that part is *probably* replaceable.

Hopefully someone who's had to deal with that particular issue will chime in shortly.

You might check the diagrams over at the Tasca Volvo parts site and see if you can isolate the piece you are describing.

I just have a hard time trying to visualize it. What does it look like on the original car? Most items can be swapped, with new O rings and crush washers.

With a donor engine, you might just decide to pull the oil pan and replace the oil pickup O rings and check the bearings. Once the engine is in the car, that is not a fun job. Ditto for the oil separator and water pump.
