Turbo Rebuild S60

I am considering an overhaul of the T4 turbo on my R. It seems like it is easy to do but a real bear to take it out. I am pulling the cylinder head off my R and it seems like a good time to do it while the head in in the machine shop. I have not had any problems with it but I found a lot of oil in the intake and charge pipes. This could be only because the oil separator was clogged at the crankcase drain.

The car has 107k miles on it. Is it worth it to rebuild the turbo just because I can? And does anyone have a trusted source for a rebuild kit?

    Turbo Rebuild S60

I recently replaced the breather system in my '04 R (it's posted on this board) and during the process I also found a lot of oil in the charge and intake pipes. I'm guessing the clogged breather was pushing out the seal in the turbo - the net result was a steady increase in the amount of oil burning. I intend to rebuild the turbo at some point (soon) but haven't yet since it's a bear to get at as you've already seen. If you have access to it, I'd suggest doing it. I've priced out some rebuild kits and they seem to run about $120 for the K24 turbos (www.gpopshop.com)

I have 153k on my R and it's been drinking oil for the last 20k miles or so - not to mention this oil flow into the intake build up on the middle plugs (3 & 4) and likely leads to decreased fuel efficiency.

Keep us updated on this if you decide to do it!
