Please tell me that photo was taken BEFORE the mechanic repaired it, and not after.
If he replaced the entire sender unit, then every connection there is his responsibility. Also, it might be that he just didn't get the large bunk nut tight or the rubber seal isn't in quite right.
Unless one of the hoses is leaking somewhere away from the connection to the sending unit, then he just needs to go back in and correct his error at no charge.
I would top the tank off and have another look-see to determine where it's still leaking BEFORE you take it back to him. That way you can point it out to him and he can't pull the wool over your eyes.
