Code P0301 S70

I just purchased a 98 S70 T5 with 91,000 on it for a steal ($2,800). The ABS, and tracs lights were all lit up. I changed out the ABS control module and the TRACS and ABS lights both went of but within 5 miles the CEL light came on and now its throwing codes P0442 and code P0301. Also, when I give it a little gas the CEL light flashes. It has a rough idle, but feels fine after that. Did I put something together wrong or did I pull a an air hose when I fixed the ABS module? It feels like an air leak even though its the code for a misfire on cylinder number 1. Also, is cylinder number 1 on the passenger side or driver side of the engine? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have a 94 850 N/A 5 speed and it is way more fun to drive than the T5!!!

there is a 90 degree elbow that eventually cracks and sucks air over time. I had the same problem and code.

The elbow is only 5/16" in diameter behind the power steering pump in the passenger side of the intake manifold. Believe me you have to look real hard. I took some alcohol and placed a rag over the end of a flat long screw driver to clean the outer surface of the 90 degree elbow. Then took some permatex high temp rtv silicone and put a dab over the cracked corner. I did replace with a new one from www.ipdusa.com. Lights out......
Cal me if you have any questions,

Cyl #1 is on the passenger side. Pull the plug and take a look.

The turbo boost control is supposed to hang off the rear of the air filter housing. Check the vacuum lines. It sounds like one of them is loose or cracked. Don't get them mixed up!

P0442 is a pain. It will not effect driving but needs to be fixed for emmissions.

Hi,

for the p0442 - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Small Leak). It could be your J hose leaking. Do a search on the site. It is an easy job to replace it. If it is the cause, replacing it will turn off your CEL.

Or the gas cap is leaking a little air.

You may just want to drop a new set of spark plugs in it to see if that cures the missfire. Copper plugs are cheap (about $2 ea) and it's surprising how often that's all thats wrong.
