Broken end link, cant remove nut. V70-XC70

I have broken swaybar end link. 98 V70, the whole front end needs overhaul. My sons car and trying to replace end link prior to returning to college. Turning the nut at the strut end just spins. Is there a way to grab it or cut off from the inside. Stuck? Or rather spinning in place.
Ideas?

You need a wrench to hold the inside nut while turning the outside. I think it is 15mm. A tight fit for the wrench.

The new endlinks have a T40 on the inside to hold it in place.

I must have my terminology wrong or not understand something. The thing I am calling the end link connect the sway bar to the strut tower. One side has a nut the other has a white plastic cover over it. Tried to take the cover off the new part but seem like it ought not to be removed. Took the boot off and nothing to grab underneath.
Sorry for such a remedial question!

      Thanks Zon

Depending on the year of your car, the end links are of 2 types. The old ones have 2 flat spots between the rubber mount and the metal head, a 15mm wrench will fit to hold while tightening. The new ones have a Torx 40 on the threaded end.

Hello, Good old fashioned bear-of-a-removal. There might be a hex or torx recess in the end of the stud you can hold on with. Clean it out as well as you can. I doubt you'll get many chances before it gets chewed up. Pull out all the tricks when you do this. Drip some penetrating oil/trans fluid/PB Blaster into it. If the recess is no good, grab it with vise grips. Since it's a nut you can hit it with a torch if need be. Kira
