C70 GPS Screen in S70 Dash S70 1998

Hi there, Can anyone educate me here on the GPS screen found in the C70 dash? Is it available for the S70 or is there a way it can be wired into a S70 TDi SE? Cheers for any advice!

    I just checked the parts bulliten and it's only available for S80s, 2001 V70s and S60s, not listed at all for the older cars so I also highly doubt that it can be made to work also.

    Guess it's Garmin or a laptop GPS?

    I've never seen one installed in a C or S 70 BUT I'm fairly sure that there's now the optional accessory kit available to do it, but definately not cheaply.

    Call your dealers parts dept because there's now an accessory parts bulliten on the subject (I've seen it) and I'm pretty sure that the C/S/V 70s are included.

    Otherwise there's always Garmin, who's best is about $700.

      I've currently use a Garmin handheld unit in a holder, the main reason I want the in dash screen is that I have a small pc that can be used in cars(I work for an IT firm and a collegue of mine uses a similar PC with an Alpine screen). This allows not only GPS tracking, but mail through a cell phone, MP3 playing etc.., kind of like the clarion autopc. Thought it might be costly...

        I don't know if the Volvo indash unit will do what you want and if you need to know that, finding that info will probably take some inquiries as a parts guy wouldn't know that either. From what we were once told ("rumor"), in parts of Europe they can even watch DVDs through that screen (apparently legal) yet using a hand held cell phone, eating and drinking while driving is illegal.

          External video input to the screen is switched off at more than 8 km/h AFAIK, so you can't watch Video/DVD while driving although the audio does stay enabled.

            So, you can eat, drink, talk on a phone OR watch TV while driving? Where's the fun in that? :)

              just spoke to a guy with an s80 who has linked a handheld unit running windows CE to the screen in his s80, don't have a clue how but sounded good...
