S60 Brake Pads S60

Besides the fact that I believe that there is no better brake pads than the stock Volvo pads (at least that's how it used to be)Is there a very good pad, ceramic or otherwise that results in a lot less brake dust for my '09 S60? Thanks, Bill

Nobody likes brake dust, a natural by product of pads that can grab quickly when cold. The harder the pad, the less dust, but then they react slower when wet or cold.

Ceramic are great for no dust, but they require a learning curve for commuters. They, like other hard pads (metal Master) take a little heat to grab and/or dispell water on the rotors.

I have always used OEM for the rear pads. No noise and very little dust.

The front pads are never OEM, because of the dust. The harder pads require more pedal pressure initially, which can add to your brake's reaction time and make you leave a little more room between cars.

For ceramic, Akebono (SP?) are reasonably good and have no dust. PBR Metal Master has slightly more dust and are much better than OEM.

If there is a large lip on the end of the rotor, consider getting new rotors rather than 'turning' the old ones.
