the car has been sitting outside since December, the electrical things work, needs new tires, radiator, and who know what else?

any thoughts would be appreciated. am looking at getting this and fixing it up for my wife for our anniversary. the top works flawlessly and there are no cuts in it!

thank you for your responses. i called him tonight and offered $1k. told him i just cannot risk more because i don't know how bad the damage is. hope to have decision back from him over the weekend. he's had it for sale for a couple months so maybe he'll take my offer. worst case i part it out and then junk the body for $600 and get my $ back out of it that way.

we've had 10 volvos over the last 12 years, but never a convertible. two 96 850 wagons were totalled, one 850 wagon rearended (none of the accidents were our fault), bought my first volvo to flip it and sold it within a week and then found i missed driving it and was hooked...87 244.

take care

I walked away from a 2002 with 56k miles that they wanted $5200 for. The top didn't have sny holes, but I could see that it would have issues in about a year or so..maybe less..

There are many of these with pretty low miles in this price range. At this age, I think they might make good weekend only cars. When the top goes, as Klaus says, they are lawn ornaments.

If the only code is the P0013, then here is a soleniod mounted to the top of the cam cover with 4 8mm screws.
That might be bad.

But the cam position sensor might also be bad. It will also throw the same code.

It has a bad radiator? Does that mean the engine overheated? Will the headgasket need replacing? $$$$ Is the thermostat bad?

I wouldn't buy it without having it inspected by a very good Volvo tech. And then I would tell the seller that the engine would have to be replaced along with the radiator and deduct that from the asking price.

No good having a top that goes up and down when the car is a lawn orniment.

i forgot to mention the car is an automatic, body in good shape, interior should be good after a couple of good detailings.

And I forgot to mention to look under the carpet in the rear seat looking for water damage. Amazing how much water is in a single cloud.

While everything in front of the windshield is the same as a V/S70, everything behind the windshield is unique to the C70. Parts are hard to find.
