Immobilizer?? How many Volvos do you own Paul? I had S40, XC and V70 keys on one key ring at one point and ran into big problems with the immobilizer. Anyone else care to comment?

Re: starting problem V70-XC70 2001

I think in the owners manual it says not to keep more than ONE of you car keys on the ring with with the one that is used to start the car. When I got my car(MY 2000 S70/GLT) it came with three keys 2 all access, and one valet key. I keep the valet key for starting the car with only the remote and the key on one ring, and on my belt I keep one of the all access keys. So, there is only one key and the remote on the ring I use for the ignition. So far so good!

Re: starting problem and valet parking V70-XC70 2001

Perhaps you might want to keep the valet key separate from a remote so that if you do ever give it to a valet for parking, the valet will not have access to all the bells and whistles on the remote and will be limited to the main locking and starting functions. What do you or others think? Is there a catch in this if you drive up to a valet parking restaurant withe the engine running and an all access key and remote in the ignition?
