continued problems door latch/no start 850

Good Morning!
I had what I thought was a bad drivers door latch motor replaced yesterday but I'm still having the same problems with A) the door latch not operating properly I can't operate it with either the key or manually. B) the flashers are still operating without being switched on KlausC thank you for your help with fixing this but it keeps happening as described in the earlier no start thread. C) now I have it on a charger and the heater fan is turning on running for a few seconds and shutting off (current from the charger fluctuating?) any way before I pay a garage to spend expensive time to troubleshoot does anyone have any ideas or experience with this or similar? Thank You!!!!

You need to get a cheap multimeter to find where the power drain is. Most likely a poor connection at the battery or a short in the wiring system, or, even the electrical portion of the ignition switch (which is an 'easy' fix).

Hook the multimeter to the battery and start pulling fuses, 1 by 1, to find the component that is drawing power.

      Hi Klaus,
Hooked up the multimeter as you described. when I pulled fuse 15 10 amp which is the circuit for courtesy lamps, diagnostics, door warning lamps, remote keyless entry, glove compartment lamp. the flashers came on and the voltage dropped from 12.5 to 12.3 and the flashers wouldn't turn off unless I disconnected the battery. No other circuits were affected. not too sure what we do next but maybe we're getting somewhere?

I have to agree with Alsnertz. There is a ground wire for the flasher under the center/forward console. That wire could have rubbed against a metal frame causing electricity to flow to the blower. These shorts are very hard to find, and in no way should pulling a fuse cause the multimeter to go down????

I'd first remove both battery cables and clean them and the posts well.

Then I'd slow charge the battery while everything is still disconnected.

While the battery is charging, I'd follow the neg. terminal cable/wire and remove/clean/replace if necessary each connection along the line.

Then do the same with the positive side.

I suspect you will find something simple is the problem.
Look for wires that may have chaffed against the body of the car somewhere. Especially related to components that move. For example...
I chased a short in my 745 for hours, hours and hours to no avail.
In the end it was simply the underhood light wire had chaffed against the hood. It looked fine from the outside, but the worn area was hidden from view. Very frustrating, but so obvious in the end.
