Max high on A/C will not work, but the other settings do. Burned out fuse socket? 850

It is hot out and I would sure love it if my max high would work. My a/c will not go on #4 setting. My a/c guy said my plug #6 was "burned out" and I would have to replace my whole fuse board to get it working. Is there any other solution to this? Fuses will not work in that spot any longer.

I had a fuse holder/socket (for the heater fan?) burn up on my 1986 760.

It took some twisting and wrangling but I put in an inline fuse holder like this:

You'll still have to pull the whole fuse box assembly thing up and get to the wires below, but at least you won't have to pay for a new assembly and also all the tedious work of installing it.

This seems like the best plan. Apparently you were able to get it pulled up enough (without wires coming loose) to have the room to connect the separate fuse holder. You allowed enough length to somehow have that fuse holder easily accessible, but where did you tuck it?

remember this was on a 760 which had a completely different fuse box setup (they were behind the radio!)

It doesn't matter where you tuck it really. Just find some space and run the wires there. It doesn't need to be held in to survive the apocalypse - it's completely covered in a rubber cap anyway, and you can run the wires anywhere you like. Just find a place, run the wires, and let it rest there.

I've had the same failure on my 1994 850 and I don't have a fuse in there so I also can't use speed 4. Sorry.
