So...
I wanted to lock the spare tire compartment the other day and had a few issues doing so. It was stuck so to speak but with a few back and forth attempts it locked no problem. I then went to unlock it and I am "stuck" again. I have tried some WD40, different key(s), pulling the handle (as to try and help it out) and have had no success. It was 89 today and I tried it again and no dice. I was so tired after cleaning the interior that I contemplated drilling the darn lock out but figured there must be someone else who has had this happen?
Although I never plan on using the spare tire ever I would still like to have access to the area for two reasons:
1. not having access to something in my car is upsetting.
2. I plan to mount a small 150 watt bass amp to the bottom section of the "2nd" door which is normally where the backside of the 3rd row seating is. My car does not have the 3rd row option.
Any ideas aside from Dewalting the lock out? I have three keys to the car to which I am the only driver. I was going to take one of them and use some vice grips so I can get some leverage...only as a last resort as with my luck I will lose not only a locking device, but the key would snap :-/
Regards
Steve
