How Hard is it to replace a valve ? 850 96

I think my car needs a valve job. How hard is it ? What is involved ?

    You have to remove the cylinder head. On an 850, it's pretty involved. Special tools are needed to reassemble the head to the car and line up the cams. The valve job part can be handled by any good auto machine shop.

    Gotta be thinking with your suject line and your question...why???

    Why do you need to replace a valve or a valve job? (two sorta different yet similar things in my book)

    It's not a job for anyone without either ALOT of engine experience or preferably newer Volvo experience with that engine as it's nothing like their older 4 cylinder engines in comparison.

    Don't guess about a valve job, have it diagnosed by a compression test and cylinder leak down test first.
