Other then the "Bread Tag" fix, is the Clutch Replacable?

On mine I took the clutch off (use 3 5mm bolts as a puller) and removed a shim. The shim removed was about 0.030 in., took bu clutch clearance from 0.040 to 0.012. I have heard that the tool you need to pull the entire clutch assembly is more than a new compressor. I got a new compressor for my 240 from Arizona Cooling for around $235.

The clutch does come off.

I do not see a replacement on FCP. Is it a Dealer Only part?

Dealers only sell compressors w/clutch attached. Get the make and model off the compressor and check your local parts stores. If you really need a new clutch, try any junk yard.

Most often, you just need to move the shim from the rear to the front to get better clearance.

Erie sell only the whole Compressor. and who knows if you would wind up with the same thing. This seems like such a common problem I wonder why there is no Service Bulletins on this?
