98 v70 center console wood replacement V70-XC70

I am trying to remove the center console to replace the broken wood insert.
I undid the 2 8mm bolts in the storage compartment, removed the ashtray, unsnapped the lower front sides from the front part of the console.
I can lift up the back part and pull it back a bit, but can't seem to get it to move any more than that. I also wonder how does it get by the handbrake mechanism.
I checked on volvospeed.com, but it seems the relevant article is gone. Some of their internal links seem to be not working...
Thanks,

Move the shift lever to N. Undo the cover around the handbrake lever by pushing to the left. It should slide easily, then pull the leather off the lever. 3. Unplug the electric wiring. There should be 2 junctions. Lift up the console.

Hi,

Thanks, I was able to get it out. However, I was not able to change the broken part under the shifter (the one that says PRND3L), as I could not lift it over the shifter. How do I remove the top part of the shifter?
Thanks,
