1995 850 electrical problem 850

Vehicle owned by towing co. Prev. owner replaced computer module. Not starting.
Supposedly not alt., fuel pump(s). Tow co. owner does not know anything but what former owner told him. Wondering if it could be fuel pump relay. What else could it be. Have 240 and 850.

Body and interior are excellent. Would be buying for price of salvage. Thanks Mike

It's really a roll of the dice. Could be something easy or not. This car could have a number of things wrong with it and the PO finally just added up fixing everything and decided it wasn't worth it. Also the '95's have a somewhat weak tranny if it isn't maintained properly or abused. Check the fluid on the tranny dip stick. If it looks brown and smells burned I'd leave it alone.

    Many things it could be.

NO START is such a general red flag in the auto world.

I find it helpful when i qualify that statement.

Is there any sound from anything, anywhere?

A general no start situation implies that fuel or spark is not present. Many systems on these cars rely on the transmission lever to tell the car that the car is indeed in N or P. I have a trick for that if you want.

Fuel or spark can be shut down by various systems on the car.

    I ramble.

You need to see if you have fuel and/or spark.

    I can help you then.

Nice dilema, a cheap car that doesn't run. It could be the relay, or, a number of other things. Can you hear the fuel pump charge when you turn the key to pos II, if not, it could be the relay or the pump itself.

If you can open the hood, check the OBD codes in A-2 and A-6 for obvious problems that the computer is aware of. Could be the cam position sensor.

It could also be the dreaded lawnmower syndrome, totally fouled spark plugs, a bad MAF, etc.
