Another Hood latch question V70-XC70

Yeah i been scanning threw the hood latch section and i can see it is an issue. It's the very first problem of my new (to me)1999 V70 turbo that i thought i could fix... The previous owner sold me the car less then a few days ago & dam it hasn't gone very well..

To make this short, the release handle was already broken, the PO had been popping the hood with pliers... Of course i tried that and the cable broke even more, now i can't even find anything left of the cable down by the release to use pliers on... The good thing is the left side of the hood popped open, bad news is the drivers side of the hood is still fully latched...

I have already tried to release it manually & i can feel it (even with my big arms), i just not quite sure which leaver i need to pull on, to pop it open. So it would be extremely helpful if someone my have a snapshot of a picture of the drivers side hood latch... Thanks

    Another Hood latch question V70-XC70

Until you REALLY need to get into the engine bay, you will need to get a new cable. Otherwise you will not be able to close the hood again.

On of the posters : I took the car after much frustration to my nearby Volvo dealer. The technician took the left side turn signal lens off and reached in with a hanger like device and pulled on the latch and it opened both right and left side latches. I was amazed. He said that the center latch device will not open the left and right latches and followed by saying that going through the grill is useless.

In otherwords, the latch is pushed towards the driver's fender. If you can reach it with your fingers.

How he got the turn signal off is beyond me, I know there is a plastic tab in the back, close to the headlight. Just push it down and slide the turn signal forward.

Yeah i already had a new cable (It came with the car)... I finally popped it, i couldn't put enough pressure with my fingers from underneath, so i played Zoro with a screw driver... now since the hood is aligned & working! :) on to the bigger issues... Thanks!
