Engine ? 850

I have a 95 Volvo 850 with a bad engine, I plan on replacing it and would like to know if a 2000 Volvo s70 engine would fit and bolt up to the transmission without to many things to be change and if it is possible what exactly would I have to change to make this engine work

This will be challenging. Just to name a few:

2000 uses a different engine management system than the 95. The 2000 ECU is expecting a 5 speed tranny, you have a 4 speed. Plus, the 2000 uses an ETM.

Have you tried Erie Vo-Vo for a replacement motor?

You do not want to mix non turbo blocks with high pressure turbo. The 2.3L is a high pressure turbo, the 2.4L is NA.

You can swap the block, but keep the head. The old head will need to be reground. It is the head that has changed for vacuum lines and electrical connections. The 2000 has coil over plugs and an ETM which your car will not support, along with variable valve timing...

No. The 2.4L engine is not designed for the stress of the high compression available when the turbo spools up. If you want to keep the high pressure turbo, you need a 2.3L engine.

what about a 1998 v70 wagon motor, will that work? its a 2.4 engine but it does have a turbo on. it looks exactly like my 1995 2.3 engine

Most of the vacuum lines are different, the 2.4L light pressure turbo would also require a LPT cumputer, different placement of the fuel pressure regulator, etc.
You can put any engine you want in your 1995, but if it is not a 94-95 HPT, carry all of the other things with it, like a speed sensor that doesn't go through the ABS first.

If all you really want is a refurbished head, remove yours and be done with it. Cheaper, faster, better.
