Help!!!!!!!!! 850 1994

I just had my 850 Tranny go south. Apparently, the torque converter cratered, then the metal shavings attached themselves to the magnetic valve body components. My re-build man tells me that Volvo will only sell the entire valve body for ~$1000, instead of the solenoid valve that is screwed up.

The second alternative is to stick in a rebuilt trans at a cost of $1800 + R&R.

Does anybody know where (or if) I can buy the valve body components?

This seems a much cheaper way out than the alternative.

Thanks in advance,

If your trans is that bad with metal everywhere,

I wouldn't even consider trying to rebuild it. It's $1,500 for a Volvo reman (1 yr warranty) plus 10 hours labor so about $2,300 (depending on labor rate) installed at a dealer.

    Jim,

Last year we bought a rebuilt trans. from the dealera and the cost was only around 1500 dollars. My mechanic charge me another 1000 and it included a new rear seal for the motor. This was the best price that I was able to obatin after callimg many trans. shoops.
