Kind of a weird thing here friends, so please bear with me while I describe it fully....After running errands around town for about 2 hours, came home, shut off the car, and there was very audible gurgling sound that was absolutely coming from the gas tank. You could hear it very clearly inside the car (loudest under rear passenger seat), and very clearly outside the car (loudest under the gas tank). This lasted for about 10 minutes (!), gradually getting quieter. The car had been filled up a few days previously. According to the gauge, there was about 12 gallons in the tank at the time of the gurgling. The only difference that I can think of is that it was our first hot (90*) day here. Never heard any gurgling last summer though!
What really worries me is this: While running errands, sitting at a light, the car felt like it lost either spark or fuel for the tiniest of split seconds. By the time I got my eyes down to the tach, everything was normal again. It almost felt like the a/c compressor kicking on in a RWD volvo. I've used the a/c pretty heavily in this car (and was at the time), but have never felt it do anything like that. There are no codes set.
So basically I'm wondering if anyone elses car ever gurgles gasoline, and if I'm right to be a little paranoid that my fuel pump might be going. During the gurgling episode I cut the key on and off several times and the pump sounded a little louder than normal. Or maybe I was just being paranoid? The car has 225k on it, I've had it for two years, and while it's been--umm--"maintenance intensive" during that time, until yesterday it's never once done anything weird.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks!
