USA cars do not have a tranny type designation in the VIN. You have to look at the center console. Of course, it could have a retrofit manual box. No one will replace a manual box with an auto.

i've plugged your vin into a ViDA program and it gives two options for the transmission. The manual and the automatic. I'm surprised it didn't populate with either one.

the first 3 (9th digit) would indicate a M58 transmission if you were outside the northern Hemisphere. I'm not working out if the check digit would be 3 or not, but it could also be the check digit if you're in CAN/US.

If you'd like to do the math and see if its 3 (if not, then its probably a Manual)
