Front Rotor removal V70-XC70 1998

I want to replace the brake pads and have the rotors resurfaced. I have removed the caliper and taken out the pin (8mm nut) locator, but can't figure out how to get the rotors off. The rotor is still not clear of hardware (bracket) that holds the caliper. There are two bolts on the inside of the bracket that look like they need to be removed but before I try that I was hoping for some advise.

The caliper bracket must be removed! While the caliper is out, clean the slide pins and regrease them.

The rotor might be rusted to the hub. A plastic or rubber mallet helps.

I normally replace the rotor after the second set of pads.

Thanks Klaus for the response. So the two bolts have to be taken out. If I would have taken them out before I removed the caliper/pads the whole assemble would have come out - pads and all. I did give them a try but they were not moving so I'll go with more torque (breaker bar?).
Are the slide pins the same as the "locator" pins in the rubber boot that must be loosened to get the caliper out?
This car is a utility vehicle, (a third Volvo) not driven very much, so I'm thinking of going with local parts store supply.

Correct, those 2 pins allow the claiper to 'float'. Once loose, they just pull straight out from the protective boot. There is not supposed to be any 'black' on them. I use a brass brush to get the gunk off.

Klaus - okay the caliper bracket is off!! now to get the rotor off! there is a 14mm bolt on the end of the shaft - does this need to come off? which way is it threaded? I have tried to bang the rotor off hammer and block of wood no result. Thanks again for the help

The only things holding the rotor in place are the lug bolts and the locator pin(10mm). The caliper bracket does not hold the rotor in place, but needs to come off to allow rotor removal.

I suspect RUST is your only barrier. If you have some penetrating oil, use it around the hub where the rotor rests and the lug bolt holes. Let the oil soak for a good 15 minutes and apply some more. Keep using the 2X4 and mallet, it will come off. My right rotor fell off and the left one refused for over an hour until beaten into submission!

Before you replace the rotor, take a wire brush and remove most of the rust from the hub. I applied some brake grease to the hub to make the next removal easier.

While thinking about this and reading I decided to try the passenger side - that rotor came right off - with a few bangs. The drivers side is still not free. I have sprayed penetrating oil and will try again in a bit.
              Thanks again.
